La Chandeleur in June (Crêpes Day)

Crêpes crêpes crêpes… I could eat a dozen of those little suckers in a row, they are so addictive! In France they constitute an event in itself. Indeed, every year on the 2nd day of February takes place in French homes the Chandeleur, the Crêpes Day. This  celebration initially has a Christian origin, when Mary went to present her newborn Jesus to the temple 40 days after his birth. It then evolved as the celebration of light (the light brought by the Messiah), symbolized by a candle (candela): la Chandeleur.
